2nd Gouwe Ouwe Tournament is a prey for the Titans

Prior to last Saturday’s very successful reunion, an indoor soccer tournament was played for the second time this year. About six teams competed during this edition for the Gouwe Ouwe trophy which was once created by former physical education teacher Herma Gerringa.

Where once teachers ruled the field, the roles have now been reversed. As the organizing team, the teachers are lucky to still participate in this now prestigious event. After the preliminaries, which sometimes kept things exciting until the last seconds, the matches for the prizes finally followed. Last place was via a lost penalty kick series for Chuckwu United. The teachers only managed to score through the penalty shootout series, finishing in a creditable second-to-last place. Title holder H5a Defending champs could not live up to the favorites and finished in third place through a 3-0 win against Warmunda. Winner ended up being the Titans‘ team. In the final match, Jan van de Kerkhof &Co was relegated to second place by the 2-0 win. Thomas Goebel, Ruben Leugering, Wouter Star, Robert Houbolt, Thijs Matser, Jos van Beuningen and Fons Hartman may be considered invincible for 5 years.
