Lieske van de Seijp passed away
On December 18, 2024, our beloved former colleague Lieske van de Seijp passed away at the age of 81.
Lieske started as a drawing teacher at the Rijnlands in 1979. She joined an arts department which included Willem Schuts, Aafke van ‘t Land and Simone Haak. A well-esteemed group of teachers that had recently said goodbye to its nestor Karel Kok, who had retired the previous year. His were big shoes to fill – and Lieske did so with verve. Later she became a beloved class teacher, at first of a first form, later on in 2/3 vwo and 4/5 havo, until her farewell in 2002 when she was a tutor in 5/6 vwo. It was typical of Lieske that in 2006, four years after her farewell, she was willing to help out the school and take up teaching once again for about three months: “I can’t leave those final exam students who have drawing in their curriculum out in the cold, can I ?”.
Lieske had been ill for many years, but she always found the strength to come out on top and carry on. We are grateful for what she has meant to the school.
