Sjaak Fonville has retired

After 40 years of dedication, commitment and always being there for the school, an icon is leaving the Rijnlands; a man who has shaped the teaching profession to the extreme. In the role of teacher, tutor, coach, area leader Community Service, BOS, institute educator, MR chair, section chairperson and as ‘Meester Staal’, he has raised the school’s profile. Above all, the informal roles he played have determined the value that Sjaak has had for the Rijnlands Lyceum. After all, we have all come to know him as the bringer of positivity, as a colleague with a critical attitude, as an engaged listener, as a creative brain behind many initiatives, as a man with humor equipped with subtle social feelers, as the leading man of the running group and much more besides… We are going to miss him tremendously!
