Hans Frieling

On November 17, our former colleague Hans Frieling passed away at the age of 84. Hans was a history teacher at our school from 1960 to 1986. Hans belonged to the group of colleagues who, under the leadership of the first rector, Dr. Naeff, and then under Harry van Mierlo, brought the school to full maturity in the 1960s and 1970s. Hans was a historian in heart and soul, but above all a passionate teacher and a master of the spoken word. With Hans, the Roman armies rumbled through the classroom. For generations of students he was the quintessential history teacher. Hans had been a widower since 2009.
