After 42 years of loyal service, Kees Tabbers finally took his retirement in 2011. Unfortunately, that time proved far too short. After a short but intense illness, Kees Tabbers passed away on 9 June 2017.   Generations of grammar school students have fond memories of his enthusiasm for classical antiquity and his broad cultural interests.
